JSA LIS Advanced Navigation Contest 2025

Any junior sailor member of the JSA who wishes to demonstrate their knowledge and skill with coastal piloting, is welcome to register for the July 21 contest. Such sailors will compete for the Warren Dellenbaugh Junior Navigation Trophy.

For 2025 only, the Advanced Navigation Contest will be voluntary and not required for participation by sailors or instructor advisors in the Beach Point Overnight and the Dorade Trophy Regatta (the JSA will not enforce Rules for JSA Events Appendix F.4.e), f), & g). 

        However, all other parts of JSA Rules Appendix F remain effective, including F.4.d) regarding the Basic Navigation/Seamanship test requirement (which may be taken individually online at this link, 24/7, and completed prior to the July 29 Overnight Race or the August 4 Dorade).

Please enter each junior sailor as crew of a boat at the contest site nearest their club.

Bring your own NOAA Training Chart 12354TR and plotting equipment as specified in the contest notice. Also bring a simple calculator for multiplying, dividing, adding and subtracting, because your cell phone must be turned off and stored in your bag.

A Make Up Test may be held on the morning of the Beach Point Ovenight Race, if there is any interest.
