WHY SHOULD I ATTEND:

This is a unique opportunity to attend a clinic with the top ILCA coaches in the United States without traveling to the mainland. Steve and Maru are excited to meet the HYSA juniors and engage with them in a fun-packed agenda of learning for three days in Kaneohe Bay

WHO SHOULD COME:

Junior ILCA/Laser sailors looking to improve their boat handling skills, starts, racing tactics and course awareness.  All levels are welcome!

Steve Mitchell was born in England and now lives in Toronto, Canada. He was a member of the British Sailing Team from 2001 – 2007 sailing with Ian Percy. Together they were the 2002 Star World Champions, 6^th at Athens 2004 Olympic Games, and the 2005 Star European Champions. Steve went on to coach at Beijing 2008 Olympics for Russia, followed by coaching the London 2012 Olympic Games for Canada. He also coached at the Toronto 2015 Pan-Ams for Canada, the Rio Olympic Games for Canada, and most recently, the Tokyo 2021 Olympic Games for USA.

Maru Urban is from Brazil and started sailing at the age of 9. Maru quickly advanced winning numerous national titles and competing at the top level internationally in boats ranging from optimist and snipes. In 2015 Maru start working as a coach for the US Sailing Team and was an Olympic coach in 2016 in Rio. Maru is now the head coach of the Key Biscayne YC in Miami where he has built one of the best ILCA Programs in the United States.
