Notice Board
This clinic is designed for sailors attending a High School ILCA regatta.
Interscholastic Sailing Association (ISSA) and College sailing (ICSA) have a different format and different procedural rules. These differences seem subtle but often catch people unawares. Races are designed to last 16-28 minutes as there is still disagreement over how long races should be.
SEISA Champions ILCA clinic focuses on winning short course strategy: assessing conditions, the right direction, solid starts, picking shifts, boat on boat tactics, marks and offsets, downwind strategy in tight courses, gates and upwind finishes. It covers scoring, ties, giving and getting the right stuff from your event coach, and care of the sailor.
Drills are targeted for the high school sailor: boat set up and inspection tips, sailing out, assessing the line, understanding the Signals, trigger pulls, I-Flag, favored ends with no compass, hitting the shift, mark rounding, offsets, jibe rounding, leeward gate, 2nd leg, downwind and upwind finishes. Cressy NOR and SI review.
