2024 IHYC Classic Yacht Regatta

We're looking forward to IHYC's 2024 Classic Yacht Regatta !

Ahead of the regatta, we're providing some useful details below:

This year, we're aiming to have our traditional pursuit starts for larger Classics (of all CYOA divisions) south of the Greenwich Islands/Western LIS, as well as a one-design course inside Great Captain Harbor. 

Boat Launching:

For the OD fleet, please contact Sailing@indianharboryc.com & dbruce@indianharboryc.com to schedule use of our hoists.  If you're participating in a regatta the following weekend, we ask that your trailer be brought to that final desination in advance, or alternatively, you can park it in the Greenwich Train Station Lot just up the road, where the fees are very minimal. 

Crew Bank:

We have a fairly extensive list of crew, compiled of experienced members and junior sailors. Please reach out to Sailing@indianharboryc.com and we will try to accommodate and fill any needs. 

Event Dinners and Party: 

• Check-in will be at a table by the Sunfish Bar
• If you plan on adding crew to dinner, we’re happy to accommodate and process credit card payments Friday and Saturday. 
• We will provide links to purchase these tickets in advance closer to the date of the event.

Moorings are plentiful:  

• Complimentary moorings during the event are available. 
• Please reserve through Dockwa. 
• IHYC will confirm your request and credit back the fee. 
• Email Head of Marine, dbruce@indianharboryc.com with questions or hail VHF 68. 
• Longer-duration moorings are available by request for the reduced event rate of $25/night.  Please coordinate this with Dustin. 

Overnight stay - There are several willing host families, so please reach out to sailing@indianharboryc.com and regatta@indianharboryc.com for limited, but available options.  Additionally, we have these recomended hotels:

Local Gas Docks: (Depth at docks should be 8 feet, should be accessible to most competitors)

• Riverside Yacht Club (Next door to the east of IHYC in Riverside, CT) VHF CH 74: Note: please contact Captain Jeff or Edgar ahead of time given. 
• Harbor Point Marina, Hinckley Fuel Dock (Stamford, CT) :: VHF CH 9 or Phone: (203) 274-8344 :: Should be open 8AM to 8PM. 

Sandwiches/Delis for Crew Lunches:

• Lunch at the club is open to any member or those accompanying competitors.  Lunch-to-go won’t be an option for competitors.  We recommend a few below:

• If you’ve done Opera House and made your way up to Cliff Road, you know the legend.  Great, big sandwiches… can order half or whole sandwiches. Recommend to ask that whole sandwiches are cut in 4 for your crew. Deliver, not open Sunday.

Restaurants/Dining:

• IHYC Dinner Tickets + band on Saturday:
• Please reach out to the Front Desk with any questions at (203) 869-2484.
• Anything at the bottom of “The Ave” is a good choice and walkable. We recommend a lively dining scene at Eastend or Mediterranean at Mediterraneo.

Coffee: 

• Greenwich Avenue is blessed with plenty of coffee shops to choose from, all a 10 minute walk up Greenwich Avenue from IHYC.
