SAILING INSTRUCTIONS

Amendment No. 1

1.  Sailing Instruction 12.3 is deleted.  CR 7.3 applies. In scoring the series, if six or more races are completed, a team’s worst race score shall be discarded before computing the total score. B. If five or fewer races, are completed, all races shall count in the total score.

2.  In the second sentence of Section 17.1, “Nantucket Community Sailing” is changed to “NIODFA”.

1. Add to Thursday, September 14: No warning signal will be made after 1400 (2 pm)

2. Delete Friday, September 15.

IOD STORM PREPARATION

At the conclusion of racing, teams are asked to help the Organizing Authority prepare boats ahead of storm conditions, as follows:

• Stow mainsails:
  • Roll tighter than usual.
  • Remove mainsails from booms, and put on covers.
  • DO NOT BEND ROLLED SAILS
  • Stow mainsail (as far forward as possible in cabin, overlapping cockpit)
• Remove booms and stow forward end in cabin.
  • Use your Leatherman to remove cotter pin, or
  • Ask support boat(s) for long nose pliers or other tools needed
• Remove compass from mast.
  • It is locked with a plastic tab on the bottom
  • Bend the tab down slightly and slide sideways
  • Don’t force the tab, small pressure should release
  • Return compass to a support boat or bring it ashore
  • If compass is defective put a piece of tape on both sides of display
  • If it works but not perfectly, put tape on one side – add notes in damage report.
