Emails regarding Covid protocols sent to all registrants:
Email 1:
This e-mail comes to you as a registrant for this week-end's regatta. Weather and winds are looking good!!
Now that it seems unlikely that Covid regulations will change before the weekend the Regatta organizers want to invite you to attend the Saturday Dinner - in a toga, if the mood suits you!!
Please, all skippers, extend this invitation to your crew members - and anyone else you would like to bring along! The menu looks excellent (see the online notice board) and, while we cannot have dancing, there will be music both inside the Club house and on the patio. You can either add dinner tickets to your registration via Clubspot or buy them at check-in.
We hope that both skippers and crew will take advantage of the Covid pre-screening and wrist bands (see Notice, below)
The patio will be fully tented, with heaters, and Covid regulations allow 50 people inside the clubhouse and 95 people on the patio. So there is plenty of safe room for all.
Thermopylae Regatta and Melges Canadian Championships Regatta
COVID Protocols
Welcome to the Thermopylae and Melges Canadian Regattas at RVYC this year.
With the ongoing health protocols in place throughout BC RVYC asks you to please follow those orders and if you are sick please stay home. No one is allowed into the RVYC Clubhouse, the Clubhouse patio, or any other RVYC building without acceptable proof of vaccination.
At the current time acceptable proof of vaccination is both a BC Vaccine passport and government issued photo id. Visitors from the US must show clearance by Canada Customs.
Vaccination status and documents will be checked at Check-in and skippers will be provided with an identifying wristband that can be used in place of the vaccine passport and photo id for the duration of the regatta.
Skippers are asked to encourage their crew to attend check-in, provide the necessary documents and obtain their own arm bands so that they also can have easy access to all areas of the club, and so that they can come join us for the Saturday dinner without fuss!!
This is to help the front office and the food and beverage staff who are required to check proof of vaccination of all entering the building. Your wrist band is proof that you have been screened and avoids having to show your vaccine passport and photo id every time you enter Club premises.
If you choose not to wear the wristband access to the club will require you show proper proof of vaccination.

Email 2:
To all Thermopylae and Melges regatta participants:
In trying to make sure that this weekend goes off without a Covid hitch the Regatta Steering Committee is asking all registrants to review and affirm the RVYC Covid attestation - which document can be accessed at the following link:
https://forms.gle/YcDBRbB5xq8CZK497
Please either forward this link to each of your crew members, or discuss it with them and then affirm that you have done so by completing the document.
As with the prior e-mail, we ask that each skipper makes RVYC Covid information available to all their crew and urge every crew member to come to the check-in desk so that we can check their Covid vaccination status and issue them with an 'easy entry' wrist band for use over the regatta weekend.
For Melges Fleet check-in, please contact the Melges Event Organizer, Evan Carey. (the rest of the local Melges fleet will also be in the know!)
For Thermopylae Regatta, the registration desk will be set up in the main lounge and will be open from 1800h to 2100h on Friday, October 1st.
Happy sailing!!
