Fall La Playa Sabot Scrimmage

This will be a casual afternoon of racing in La Playa, primarily targeted towards our our C-Fleet racers to get more time on the racecourse. 

1. Eligibility
   • This event will be open to Jr Sabot Sailors in the C3, C2, and A-C1 Fleets. 
   • Sabot A and B sailors are encouraged to try the Laser Development Day. A's and B's wishing to sail sabots will start with the C1 fleet. 
2. Entry
   • SDYC Members: Free
   • Non-Members with coaching from an SDAYC club: Free
   • Non-Members requesting SDYC Coaching: $40
3. Schedule
   • 1200: Arrive, Check-In, & Rig
   • 1220: Team Meeting with Coaches
   • 1300: First Warning
   • Four races are scheduled
   • No start after 1500
   • ASAP after racing: Sailors will de-rig, debrief with coaches. Trophies will be handed out during the debrief. 

Laser Development Day

This course is designed to introduce junior sailors to the exciting world of Laser sailing. Guided by a team of seasoned coaches, you'll learn about rigging, foundational boat handling skills, and get on the water to gain invaluable hands-on experience and HAVE FUN! Unveil a world of possibilities in single-handed sailing that can help shape your path in the sport, whether you're a skilled Sabot racer ready to chart a new course or a high school sailor eager to expand your racing horizons!

1.  Eligibility
   • Open to Sabot A&B sailors, or older sailors with experience in other fleets.
   • Sailors should be at least 85lbs or contact the Jr Office for approval. 
2. Entry
   • SDYC Members: Free
   • Non-Members: $40
3. Schedule
   • Arrive promptly at Noon
   • Rigging Demo
   • Intro to Laser Sailing Lesson
   • Launch and sailing in La Playa & San Diego Bay, depending on conditions.
4. Charter Boats are available on a first-come, first-served basis for $20.
5. Personal Boats: Please indicate when registering if you plan to use a personal boat. 
6. Volunteers: Sailors with experience in the Laser Fleet can sign up to be a volunteer coach, and help new laser sailors learn about the fleet. You can register to volunteer on the Clubspot, or contact the Jr Office.
